Is It Permitted To Recite Du’as From The Qur’an In Sajdah? By al-Allāmah, Ahmad An-Najmi
Question: Is it permitted to recite the Qur’an in one’s sajdah (prostration in prayer) with the intention of du’aa (supplication), such as reciting:
رَبَّنَاآتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
“Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”
Answer: If one recites a sentence or sentences from the Qur’an with the intention of du’aa (supplication), such as reciting:
رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ
“My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants. Our Lord, accept my supplication.
رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الْحِسَابُ
Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established.”
I do not see any harm in that – and success lies with Allaah.
