“Beware of lying, O truthful Salafi youth, for indeed, it is among the most vile of sins… a liar is not accepted. Indeed, a liar is beneath the people of innovation.” By Shaikh Rabee’ ibn Hādī al-Madkhalī.

Our Shaikh, al-Imām, al-ʿAllāmah, al-Muhaddith, Rabīʿ ibn Hādī ʿUmayr al-Madkhalī (died 1447 AH, may Allāh’s mercy be upon him) stated in his book, adh-Dharīʿah, (4/257):

“One of the fundamental characteristics of the people of innovation, or the majority of them, is lying.

“So beware of lying, O truthful Salafi youth, for indeed, it is among the most vile of sins. Every characteristic and every sin may be found in a Muslim, other than shirk, except for lying. For the Muslim does not lie.

“For this reason, our religion revolves around the speech of the truthful. We do not accept speech except from the truthful ones. A liar is not accepted—indeed, a liar is beneath the people of innovation by degrees and levels. Abū Ishāq al-Jawzajānī said:

“As for such-and-such a person, I do not know of any innovation from him, however he lies. And lying alone is sufficient as an innovation.”
