It is legislated for the husband to supplicate to Allah for protection before sexual intimacy with his wife. It is from the means of protection for himself, his wife and his offspring from the accursed Shaytān and his evil suggestions and prodding (hamz), from his puffing up with pride and arrogance (nafkh), from his spitting and blowing (nafth) and from his scheming and plotting. Ibn ‘Abbās (radiyallāhu ‘anhumā) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “If anyone amongst you intends to go to his wife for sexual intercourse, he should say:
بِاسْمِ اللَّهِ اللَّهُمَّ جَنِّبْنَا الشَّيْطَانَ وَجَنِّبِ الشَّيْطَانَ مَا رَزَقْتَنَا
Wa jannibish-Shaytāna mā razaqtanā.
“In the name of Allah. O Allah protect us against Shaytān and keep away the Shaytān from that which you provide for us.” And if Allah ordains a child for them, Shaytān will not be able to do any harm to him.” (Reported by Muslim, 1434)
And all praise is due to Allah, Lord of all creation, and may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and all his Companions
