Abu Sa’eed al-Khudree and Abu Hurayrah (may Allāh be pleased with them) narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said, “No Muslim is afflicted with exhaustion, or sickness, or grief, or sadness, or harm, or distress and sorrow, or even a prick of a thorn except that Allah will expiate some of his sins due to that.” (Al-Bukhari, nos. 5641, 5642)

عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏ “‏ مَا يُصِيبُ الْمُسْلِمَ مِنْ نَصَبٍ وَلاَ وَصَبٍ وَلاَ هَمٍّ وَلاَ حُزْنٍ وَلاَ أَذًى وَلاَ غَمٍّ حَتَّى الشَّوْكَةِ يُشَاكُهَا، إِلاَّ كَفَّرَ اللَّهُ بِهَا مِنْ خَطَايَاهُ ‏
