Ibn Abdul-Barr (d 463): “The proof of the deniers is, ‘There is not a gathering of three except He is the fourth, nor a gathering of five except He is the sixth…’ This is not a proof for them because the Sahābah and Tābi’īn said that it’s meaning is: He is above the Throne, and His knowledge is in every place, and no one differed with them regarding this belief.” (Majmū’ Al-Fatāwa, Ibn Taymiyyah 3/221)
