Is it allowed for a Muhrim (a man in the state of Ihram) to wear shorts under his Ihram? Shaikh Rabee’ Al-Madkhali.

Question: Is it allowed for a Muhrim (a man in the state of Ihram) to wear shorts under his Ihram?

Answer: It is reported that the servants of ʿA’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) would wear shorts under their ihrāms (i.e., under their izārs (waist-sheets)). So, in my view, if there is a need, there is no harm in wearing shorts – wearing a short sirwāl (short baggy trousers) under the ihrām for a need, there is no harm, inshā’-Allāh.
